Wichita police investigating shooting that left 13-year-old seriously injured

Wichita, KANSAS – According to the Wichita Police Department, the shooting occurred right after 5 p.m. Monday.

It happened in the 4300 block of South Bernita.

Wichita Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.

The responding officers discovered that the 13-year-old victim and their 16-year-old sibling were playing with a gun when the gun went off.

The 13-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
