Two-vehicle crash on US-56 Highway leaves at least one person injured

Osage County, KANSAS – Kansas Highway Patrol officials said this unfortunate accident occurred right before 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

It happened on US-56 highway.

KHP troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash.

The responding troopers discovered that the 31-year-old driver of Toyota Corolla was driving westbound on US-56 when she attempted to pass a vehicle and struck an eastbound Chevrolet Impala.

The 31-year-old driver of the Toyota Corolla suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

She was later identified as Ashley Payne.

The 3-year-old passenger in the Toyota Corolla was not injured, troopers said.

The 59-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Impala suffered minor injuries.

She was later identified as Robin Lemke.

This incident remains under investigation.
