TOPEKA – According to the officials, this unfortunate incident occurred around 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
When Topeka Fire Department crews arrived on scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the single-story home.
The TFD crews were able to contain the fire before it damaged any of the surrounding homes.
Two adults and three children have been displaced.
Unfortunately, the family lost their pets in the house fire.
The home suffered $15,000 in damage.
Investigators say that the fire was accidental.
