The State Board of Education will conduct a public hearing on July 13 to consider proposed changes to the Kansas State High School Activities Association’s Rule 5

Topeka, KANSAS – According to the state officials, the public hearing will be held in the board room in Landon State Office Building located at 900 S.W. Jackson St., Suite 102.

Officials have announced that the main goal of the proposed rule change is to apply an enrolment multiplier factor when determining classification numbers of private schools. 

Factors for determining the multiplier include school location, socio-economic status, and championship factor.

All interested persons will be given a reasonable opportunity at the hearing to present their views or arguments, either orally or in writing, in regard to the proposed rule. 

Ladies and gentlemen, the hearing shall be conducted in compliance with the public hearing procedures of the State Board of Education.

All interested parties wishing to give oral testimony during the hearing must register with the Secretary of the Kansas State Board of Education by email to [email protected] or by letter to the address given above. 

NOTE:rRegistrations must be received no later than 5 p.m., Monday, July 11. When requesting to speak, please include the following information:

  1. Speaker’s name.
  2. Organisation represented, if any.
  3. Identify whether the testimony is as a Proponent, Opponent or Neutral regarding the proposed rule change.
