According to the police officials, the 34-year-old man killed his adoptive mother and then set her body and house on fire. The suspect allegedly told investigators that he killed his adoptive mother because the Holy Spirit told him to as she was the devil. Authorities say his 6-year-old nephew allegedly witnessed the horrific events that took place in the moments before the blaze. This unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday.
The 34-year-old man from Ohio, Lionel Gore, admitted to the killing of his adoptive mother, Diane Gore. On Saturday, around 6:30 p.m., 911 dispatchers received an emergency call about a structure fire at a home in the 100 block of Cemetery Drive.
The responding officers met with the victim’s sister, Stephanie Williams. She told them that she had arrived a short while earlier to find the house on fire. When the woman arrived on scene, she saw the 34-year-old suspect, covered in blood, getting out of the house. He allegedly told her “Get out of the way or I’ll kill you next.” He then fled the scene, authorities said.
Investigators spoke with the suspect’s 6-year-old nephew. They say the child witnessed the horrific events that took place in the moments before the fire. The 6-year-old allegedly said that he witnessed the suspect holding a knife and sawing at the victim’s neck. Lionel then set the house on fire with the boy still inside. The child was forced to crawl out on his own.
Authorities located the headless body in the master bedroom of the home. Deputies located the suspect’s car and a brief chase ensued. He was arrested and taken into custody. When investigators asked him what happened to his mother, he allegedly told them that he was adopted and she was not his mother.
During the investigation, the suspect also said that “he killed his adoptive because the Holy Spirit told him to as she was the devil.” This incident remains under investigation. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
