The City of Lawrence Compost Facility, located at 1420 East 11th Street, will reopen to the public on Saturdays through mid-December

Lawrence, KS – According to the officials, the facility will be open for new hours in 2021, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on all Saturdays until mid-December, weather permitting, except for November 27, when the facility will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The local residents may drop off brush and other yard waste starting at $5 per small truckload. Larger trucks and trailers may be subject to additional fees. Acceptable items include leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, and prunings from trees and shrubs.

Tree trunks and large limbs must not be longer than four feet and no more than eight inches in diameter. All materials must be loose (i.e., no plastic bags, bundles or ties).

Materials not accepted at the Compost Facility include lumber, pallets, sod, stones, rope, fill dirt, food waste, metal and plastic.

All transactions at the Compost Facility are cash only.
