19-year-oldTurner got into an argument with his father because he was involved in a minor car crash. The father believed that the accident was caused because of the teen’s drug abuse. The furious father then proceeded to kick the teen out of their home. The student from Bracknell and Wokingham College reportedly had a strained relationship with his father, and it only got worse after the passing of his mother three years ago.
Things took a turn for the worse as Turner went to Chobham Common, a popular Surrey nature reserve. This incident occurred on December 1, 2020. The next day, the teen had died and his body was discovered by walkers in the park. The emergency services quickly arrived at the spot after the call and tried their best to revive the teenager, but in vain. Soon, the teenager was proclaimed dead. As per assistant coroner Karen Henderson, Turner died of hypothermia.
“I am satisfied he found himself in Chobham Common on the night of December 1, 2020, that he fell asleep during that period of time, and given the time of year it resulted in significant hypothermia which is directly causative of his death,” said Henderson. Apparently, the youngster stopped at the spot to rest for a bit as he was exhausted from a six-mile walk from his father’s home in Ascot. Meanwhile, the toxicology reports showed that though the teenager used cannabis frequently, it played no part in his death. The cops also arrested a 17-year-old from Staines-upon-Thames, for allegedly supplying cannabis to Turner.
Dr. Henderson summarised the case saying, “I am satisfied on the balance of probabilities that Lyndon was a regular user of cannabis. There were some difficulties with his family circumstances and due to a recent car accident and concerns of his father that he had been using cannabis, that he was asked not to remain at home. Sadly, he did not choose to find somewhere else to live.”
The inquest then heard that the texts exchanged between the deceased teenager and his sisters showed that the father and son did not share a great relationship after the death of his mother, Sarah Turner. Further, they found texts that said the teen was upset and disturbed by his father’s decision. As per the court records, the father told the son he was not welcome at home. He believed that Turner would take refuge in the house of any of his friends.
Though authorities can’t determine where Turner went before turning up at the location where his body was found, it has been formally recorded Lyndon died by way of misadventure, the unexpected consequence of an act.
