SUV, tractor-trailer collision on U.S. 50 leaves one dead, one seriously injured

Ford County, KANSAS – Kansas Highway Patrol officials said the accident occurred around 2:10 p.m. Monday.

It happened on U.S. 50 at 126 Road.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash.

The responding troopers discovered that tractor-trailer and SUV crashed at the location.

The driver of the SUV reportedly stopped at the stop sign, but failed to yield to a westbound tractor-trailer.

The 87-year-old driver of the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

He was later identified as Gaylord Moritz.

The 61-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

This incident remains under investigation.
