Suspect released from hospital, charged with three counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer

Leavenworth, KANSAS – According to the statement, the 31-year-old suspect was taken into custody after he was released from the University of Kansas Rehabilitation Center.

His name is Donald Barden Jr. and he was taken into custody on Wednesday.

He is now charged with three counts of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the 31-year-old man was reportedly shot after he pointed his gun at and ran towards officers during a standoff.

Barden Jr. was booked into the Leavenworth County Jail.
