Suspect arrested, charged in shooting incident on SW Clay Street

Topeka, KANSAS – According to the Topeka Police Department, the shooting occurred right before 6 a.m. Saturday.

It happened in the 1800 block of SW Clay Street.

Topeka Police Department officers heard gunshots and saw a crowd of people running.

The 42-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail on three charges.

He was later identified as Jerome Vetaw.

Two other individuals were detained.

The responding officers say they are victims of the alleged aggravated assault.

This incident remains under investigation.
