Topeka, KANSAS – According to the Topeka Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred around 8:41 p.m. Sunday.
It happened at 1228 N.E. Forest Ave.
Topeka Fire Department crews responded to a report of a house fire.
The responding crews found light smoke coming from the residence.
One person suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said.
Investigators believe the cause of the fire was accidental and more likely than not associated with improper disposal of smoking materials.
