LAWRENCE — The Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas will reopen to the public for the month of November on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can make a free reservation to explore the galleries, which will have reduced capacity in accordance with public health and safety guidelines.

Sunday, Nov. 29, will be the last chance to visit the Spencer Museum this fall and experience the exhibitions “Staging Shimomura,” “Audubon in the Anthropocene: Works by Matthew Day Jackson” and “Past Presence.” The galleries will close Nov. 30 for staff to reinstall special exhibition galleries for new shows opening in February 2021. Open hours for the spring will be announced closer to that time.

Through Nov. 19, visitors can also explore the Spencer Museum’s outdoor installation in Marvin Grove that features 13 original sculptures by KU students.

New protocols will require all visitors over the age of 2 to wear masks, and visitors should maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others. The museum will have disposable masks and hand sanitizer available and has increased cleaning for public spaces.

Advance reservations are highly encouraged. Visitors who arrive without a reservation may be asked to wait or return on a different day if the galleries have reached capacity. For questions or assistance making a reservation, please contact the Spencer Museum of Art at 785-864-4710.
