According to the court documents, the 22-year-old mother and the 25-year-old father are charged with one count of causing injury to a child, two counts of abandoning or endangering a child and one count of capital murder. Prosecutors said the 1-year-old girl had sores on her body and was severely malnourished. Prosecutors also said that the victim had apparently been losing weight for some time, but medical care was not sought.
On Jan. 5, 2022, grand jury indicted the couple from Texas on one count each of capital murder. Prosecutors said that this count carries a possible punishment of the death penalty or life without parole, according to reports.
Both defendants, Sage Angel Rose Wright and Christian Bishop-Torrence, are being held on a $1 million bond on the capital murder count alone.
According to the court documents, the 1-year-old girl, Georgia Bishop-Torrence, died on June 11, 2021 at a local hospital. The 25-year-old father reportedly asked a friend to drive him and Georgia to the emergency room at a United Regional Health Care facility because the victim wasn’t breathing.
The responding officers arrived at the hospital right before 12 p.m. The doctors told investigators that the 1-year-old victim wasn’t breathing and was unresponsive. The hospital staff took the little girl to a trauma room but could not resuscitate her. She was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m., according to reports.

During an interview with investigators, the 22-year-old mother said the girl had been losing weight since January. The mother also told investigators that she reportedly “struggled to bond with the baby as well as she had with her two other children.” She has two other children, prosecutors said.
The 1-year-old girl weighed less when she died than she did when she was born, according to reports. The little girl reportedly weighed 8 pounds at the time of her death.
According to the court documents, the 22-year-old mother weighs 381 pounds and the 25-year-old father weighs 375 pounds.
