“She returned from hunting, went into her room to change clothes and shot the boy”, Mother killed her 6-year-old son because ‘she wanted to send him to heaven’

The 31-year-old mother was arrested on Thursday. Prosecutors said the mom used a hunting rifle to shoot and kill her 6-year-old son on Thanksgiving. The boy’s mother returned from hunting, went into her room to change clothes and shot her son in the upper body, authorities said. The 31-year-old mom reportedly used the alleged murder weapon to kill a deer approximately one hour before she reportedly shot and killed her son.

The 31-year-old mother from South Carolina, Mary Rosborough, is accused of murdering her 6-year-old son, according to reports.

On Thursday, deputies responded to the family residence after the Communications Center received a call advising that a 6-year-old boy had been shot. The responding deputies made contact with the suspect’s brother, Will Rosborough. He told them that his sister had just shot her son and other family members were already driving him to a hospital.

The responding deputies secured the deer rifle before arresting the 31-year-old mother. The 6-year-old boy, Jase Rosborough, was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to reports, the 31-year-old mother used the alleged murder weapon to kill a deer approximately one hour before she reportedly shot and killed her son.

Sheriff Montgomery said that “around 6:10 p.m., the boy’s mother, had returned from hunting, went into her room to change clothes and shot the boy in the upper body.”

The suspect’s brother heard the gunshot, ran in the direction of the room and said his sister was trying to reload. Will then tackled his sister to the ground, secured the gun, and kept her restrained for authorities while other members of the family tried to get the child medical attention.

Will also said that while he was wrestling with his sister she reportedly said that “she wanted to send the victim to heaven.” The 31-year-old mom was booked Friday morning on the following charges: murder/non-negligent manslaughter and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

“Jase was such a sweet little boy, sweet and loving, happy. What a loving little guy he was, sweetest little thing. I can’t help being angry about what happened. Our family is devastated, but that was not Amelia. That was not her. She was a loving daughter, sister and mother. I can’t explain what happened.” Will Rosborough said.

This incident remains under investigation. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
