KANSAS — Christmas came early on Friday for some children at the University of Kansas Health System.
Santa and Mrs. Claus delivered $10,000 worth of toys to the children.
Santa was escorted by federal agents, police officers and firefighters to make sure the toys were delivered safely.
It was a part of a partnership with the Shadow Buddies Foundation, which helps children with severe illnesses and disabilities.
The nonprofit collected donations to make the event possible, and more donations were gathered this year than ever before.
“To rely on the community to pull together to be able to spread happiness and cheerfulness, and it’s been such a tough year, and I think it’s so important to continue the blessings and the spirit of what Christmas is about,” Marty Postlehwait, founder of Shadow Buddies, said.
