Police share photo of officer and small child moments after boy’s parents overdosed

Police shared a heartwarming photo of an officer and small child that’s serving as a public service announcement. According to police, a concerned citizen spotted a car around 7 a.m. Friday with two people inside. The people appeared to be slumped over and unconscious.

When the police responded they found Joshua Write and Alicia Kowszik inside, as well as their 1-year-old son.

“This is something that we see routinely and it’s sad,” Sgt. Glass said.

Fayetteville Police Department officers arrested the couple and charged them with possession of heroin and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

While officers waited for the young child’s grandparents to arrive, Officer Sheeley consoled the boy.

“Fortunately, officers were able to capture that candid shot of Officer Sheeley and that young child.”

The Fayetteville Police Department in North Carolina shared the touching photo on Facebook where it received a lot of attention. They also took the opportunity to bring awareness to how drug use affects everyone.
