Officer-involved shooting in Leavenworth leaves one injured; KBI investigating

Leavenworth, KANSAS – According to the Leavenworth Police Department, this incident occurred early Sunday morning.

It happened near 5th St. and Seneca.

Leavenworth Police Department officers responded to a report of a stabbing.

The responding officers made a contact with the suspect, who reportedly had a gun.

After a short standoff, the responding officers reportedly opened fire and wounded the 31-year-old suspect.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

This incident remains under investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
