According to the police officials, the 26-year-old stepfather and the 25-year-old mother are waiting extradition, because the stepfather allegedly beat their 5-year-old son to death. Police say the mother did nothing to stop it. His mother allegedly admitted that her boyfriend struck the boy, slamming him into a wall. The child began vomiting and then died.
The 25-year-old mother, Nickolle Aguilar, told investigators she witnessed her boyfriend, Daniel Garcia, hurting her son, Domenic Aguilar-Acevedo.The mother told investigators she did not step in because “she was too eager to be in a relationship.” She allegedly also said they did not report the child’s death after she and Garcia discussed losing custody of their other kids.
The 5-year-old boy died on July 25 in a hotel room in Texas. The couple then brought the boy’s body to Colorado, camped in a remote area and buried him. Then, they drove down to Costa Rica. Nickolle’s mother asked asked about the child and she allegedly revealed what happened. The boy’s grandmother called the authorities.
Authorities found the boy’s body in a ravine on Aug. 25. Both suspects face charges of child abuse resulting in death. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
