Local resident suffers critical injuries after being struck by vehicle on I-70

Lawrence, KANSAS – According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

It happened near the I-70 and I-470 interchange.

The responding troopers found one male victim.

They say the 30-year-old victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

He was later identified as Mackenzie Charles Moore, of Lawrence.

Authorities say Mazda CX5 was westbound on I-70 when it struck Dodge Nitro and a pedestrian who was outside the vehicle.

The driver of the Mazda was not injured.

This incident remains under investigation.
