Lawrence Memorial Hospital was forced to throw away nearly 600 COVID-19 vaccine doses this week due to a process error

Lawrence, KS – According to the statement, the Lawrence Memorial Hospital received 570 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health.

The doses are typically delivered while frozen, so they can be placed in a freezer at the hospital until they are ready for distribution.

The hospital officials said they followed this procedure, not realizing they were already thawed.

LMH Health and LDCPH were working to reschedule vaccine appointments for those affected by the error.
