Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fire and have made an arrest

KANSAS – According to the police officials, this incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Jackson Towers Apartments, 1122 SW Jackson Street.

Topeka Fire Department responded to the report of a person squirting lighter fluid all over an apartment.

When the Topeka Fire Department crews arrived on scene, they found the apartment evacuated, but no fire. 

After interviewing the victim and collecting evidence at the scene, there was enough probable cause to arrest Carl Lester for the crime of Attempted Aggravated Arson and Aggravated Assault.

The 53-year-old man was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
