Kansas woman sentenced to 117 months in prison for the hit-and-run death of 16-year-old girl

Leavenworth, KANSAS – The 28-year-old defendant, Amber Alexander, was sentenced to 117 months in prison for the hit-and-run death of 16-year-old Miranda Lynch.

The 28-year-old woman was sentenced on Wednesday, court records say.

The defendant was convicted of second-degree murder, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and evidence tampering in the the girl’s death.

Amber reportedly had several drinks before leaving a bar and driving to her home, where she hit the 16-year-old victim around 2 a.m. on Aug. 7, 2021.

She then fled the scene.

After the fatal crash, the defendant called her insurance carrier that her car had been hit in her apartment complex parking lot during the night.
