Kansas man charged with second-degree murder in connection with crash that killed motorcyclist

Olathe, KANSAS – According to the court documents, his name is Ruben Rodriguez and he is now charged with second-degree murder.

The 35-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday.

He is being held on $250,000 bond.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the 35-year-old man accused of recklessly driving the SUV that struck and killed motorcycle rider Dade Smith on Nov. 18.

This unfortunate accident occurred on West 167th Street.

Prosecutors said the 23-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rodriguez is scheduled to return to Johnson County District Court on Jan. 5.
