Kansas man charged with DUI-related involuntary manslaughter for crash that killed 19-year-old man

Sedgwick County, KANSAS – According to the court documents, his name is Jose Rios-Cruz Jr. and he was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Clayton Paterson.

This unfortunate incident occurred right before 3 a.m. on Sept. 25.

It happened on K-254. 

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash.

The responding deputies discovered that the 40-year-old defendant was driving the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes and collided with the victim’s vehicle.

His next court date was scheduled for November 22.

Jose Rios-Cruz Jr. remains in jail with bond set at $500,000.
