Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating after JCSO deputy was found dead inside his home

Mankato, KANSAS – According to the Jewell County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred right after 2 a.m. early Monday morning.

It happened at 507 E. Madison.

Jewell County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting call.

When the deputies arrived on scene, they found one adult male victim.

Police said the 27-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was later identified as Colton Koch.

Koch reportedly served at the Jewell County Sheriff’s Office for approximately 2 1/2 years.

This incident remains under investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
