Seward County, KANSAS – According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, this unfortunate accident occurred right before 8 a.m. Wednesday.
It happened in the 600 block of Warren Avenue in Liberal.
Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash.
GMC Sierra was making a left turn and struck the boy who was in the crosswalk in front of Prairie View Elementary School.
The 5-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
His name is Nathaniel Garro Rivera and he was later pronounced dead.
Troopers said the 25-year-old driver of the GMC Sierra was not injured.
This incident remains under investigation.
