The 35-year-old former anti-vaxxer who reportedly died 8 times in hospital after contracting Covid-19 and sepsis is urging others to get the vaccine. According to reports, her heart reportedly stopped numerous times while brave doctors at the hospital battled to save her life. The lucky 35-year-old said she is eternally grateful to the medical personnel who comforted her throughout.
“I remember saying to doctors and nurses ‘please don’t let me die’,” the 35-year-old woman from UK, Gemma Roberts, said. “I rang my partner Sophie and said: ‘they are putting me to sleep, but I’m going to be okay’.
“I wish I’d had the vaccine before, I think everyone should have it now. I was one of those people scared of having the jab. I heard it killed people. I took a chance and almost didn’t pull through. Medical professionals saved my life, that’s who I will listen to now.” she said.
Roberts also said that she felt guilty putting her family through turmoil, not knowing if she would wake up.
She said she thought she was just hungover following a wedding party the weekend before because she had been feeling tired, sick and out of breath. After her positive tests, she was told she would be taken to hospital so medical personnel could administer her with oxygen before letting her go again.
As well as COVID-19, Gemma was also fighting off two bouts of sepsis. Her partner Sophie Holmes, called paramedics on August 11. “They put her on a CPAP machine and said they’d put her to sleep as her oxygen wasn’t good enough,” Sophie said.
Unfortunately, on the 14th she had a cardiac arrest. Her heart stopped and she required CPR and resuscitation. A week later she had another one and was brought back again. She then had a couple of days before the next one.
Sophie also said that on August 31 she had four cardiac arrests. She had been ventilated for three weeks by that point. She had one more cardiac arrest after that.
The longest period she was dead for was 10 minutes. Each time the doctors performed CPR and brought her back. “We were un-vaccinated with no underlying health conditions, we are just a bit chubby – that’s it. The doctors saved her life.” Sophie also said that she now feels as if the pair were “brainwashed” by the “anti-vaxxer” theories.
