While the 36-year-old dad was shopping in a grocery store, he reportedly told two students: “The school’s changing. Before you know it, there’s going to be a d-ag queen show. And you know what? I’m probably going to show up and kill somebody. A lot of bodies. You understand?” An employee at the store was alarmed and reported the conversation to the school officials, who reportedly alerted the authorities. During an interview with investigators, the father reportedly said: “If they’re going to ever have a transgender and d-ag queens … and bring it right here in my daughter’s face, I am going to have a big problem with that.”
On Tuesday, the 36-year-old father from Vermont, Shane Gobeil, was arrested and charged with harassment in New Hampshire after he reportedly threatened his daughter’s school. According to The Advocate, the 36-year-old dad reportedly said if his daughter was exposed to transgender students or d-ag queens he would ‘probably going to show up and kill somebody.’
Prosecutors have issued an extreme risk protection order against the father, barring him from possessing a weapon for six months. On Monday, Gobeil was shopping in a grocery store when he threatened The Canan Schools, which is a campus that shares both an elementary and high school.
According to the Union Leader, he reportedly told two students in the store that “the school’s changing. Before you know it, there’s going to be a d-ag queen show. And you know what? I’m probably going to show up and kill somebody. A lot of bodies. You understand?”
The store clerk reported the conversation to the school officials, who alerted the state police. According to the VTDigger, Gobeil reportedly told the responding troopers:“If they’re going to ever have a transgender and d-ag queens … and bring it right here in my daughter’s face, I am going to have a big problem with that. If anybody comes near my daughter with a f—–g d— and f—–g panty-ose, I’ll kill ’em. Don’t take what I said as a threat, take it as a promise.”
When the troopers told the 36-year-old father that his statements were concerning, he reportedly replied: “I don’t care, and he would say whatever he wants as it was his own right to do so. The responding troopers searched his residence for dangerous weapons but did not find any. But, Gobeil reportedly told them that he intended to acquire an assault rifle.
As a result of the threat, the schools closed the high school and elementary school on Tuesday and Wednesday. The 36-year-old father received two trespass notices last year, The Advocate reports. In December 2021, he reportedly screamed at a staff member for wearing a medical face mask. At another instance, he reportedly confronted a mother with two children for wearing masks twice. Gobeil now faces a possible jail sentence of under one year and a maximum fine of $2,000.
