Douglas County reported 8,533 new cases of COVID-19

Douglas County – According to the statement, 8,033 out of the 8,533 cases are inactive or beyond the infectious period. This means that 500 cases are active.

The current average of 18.14 new cases per day is down from a recent high of 71 cases per day in early January.

Douglas County has a 14-day COVID-19 incidence rate of 211.16 per 100,000 people and a test positivity rate of 4.1%. Test positivity rates are 5.9% in Eudora, 4.8% in Baldwin City, 3.8% in Lawrence and 3.1% in Lecompton.

Six patients at Lawrence’s hospital had COVID-19 on Thursday, three fewer than Wednesday. To date, 71 Douglas County residents have died from COVID-19.
