Topeka, KANSAS – According to the Topeka Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred around 7:10 a.m. Monday.
It happened in the 1400 block of SW MacVicar.
Topeka Fire Department crews responded to a report of a house fire.
The responding crews discovered that people were possibly trapped inside the house.
The 7-year-old victim and his grandmother were reportedly found inside.
Both were taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
The 7-year-old boy was later pronounced dead.
He was identified as Alexander Servantez.
A third person was hospitalized with minor injuries, officials said.
This incident remains under investigation.
