Crash on U.S. Interstate 70 leaves 28-year-old passenger dead, deputies say

Ellsworth County, KANSAS – According to the ECSO, the fatal accident occurred around 4:07 a.m. early Saturday morning.

It happened on U.S. Interstate 70 at milepost 226.

Ellsworth County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash.

The responding deputies reportedly found a vehicle in the ditch.

The 28-year-old passenger in the Range Rover suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was later identified as Blair Helvey.

The 28-year-old driver was later identified as the victim’s husband, Joseph Helvey.

The extent of the driver’s injuries is unknown at this time.
