Lawrence, KANSAS – According to the city officials, this is reportedly part of a storm sewer improvement program and the intersection will be closed through early August.
When the construction at the intersection is over, the contractor will reportedly start working on a new storm sewer under 19th Street from Arkansas to the west side of Alabama.
City officials have announced that that program is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.
While 19th Street is closed, the detour for east and west traffic is 23rd Street.
During the ongoing construction, signage and detours will be in place to direct traffic.
