Mother of two claims she still doesn’t have her sense of smell back, even though she contracted COVID-19 more than a year ago

The 28-year-old woman revealed on her social media account that one year after contracting COVID-19, she still doesn’t have her sense of smell back. The mother of two said she came down with Coronavirus in December of 2020, just weeks after giving birth to her second child. She made the health confession on Instagram. She reportedly told her followers that she had COVID 14 months ago but still has not regained her ability to smell almost anything.

The 28-year-old woman from Arkansas, Jinger Duggar, made the health confession on Instagram on Tuesday. Jinger, who lives in California now, told her followers that she had COVID 14 months ago but still has not regained her ability to smell almost anything.

‘A gift from God’ is what she calls her ability to just slightly smell coffee. Jinger also admitted that the few other things that her nose can detect stink. The former reality TV star also said she lost her sense of smell and it hasn’t come back. Jinger also said she can only smell a tiny bit of something every once in a while and usually it stinks, per reports.

The mother of two, Jinger Duggar, reportedly said: So, in December 2020, I lost my smell after having COVID. And it has stayed away. I can only smell a tiny bit of something every once in a while and usually it stinks. I can smell a tiny bit of coffee, which is amazing. I think it’s a gift from God to be able to smell that.

But I heard from some people that if you smell, like, the same scent every day that it can retrain your senses and then you can actually learn those smells again. So I thought, why not give it a try? I have some essential oils. That was something that was recommended.”

The 28-year-old mom reportedly sniffed several bottles on camera, starting with thyme-scented oil.

Jinger Duggar reportedly said: That absolutely reeks right now. And peppermint I can barely, barely smell anything.”

The 28-year-old woman also smelled lemon and lavender, the latter making her scrunch her nose again.

In another social media video, the mom-of-two said that it’s been 14 months since she was last able to smell properly.

Vaccinations were not yet available when she contracted the virus, though it’s also unclear whether she has been vaccinated since then. Jinger didn’t reveal that she was sick at the time and not indicated whether she is suffering from any other long COVID symptoms.

Many long COVID sufferers have reported being unable to smell for weeks and sometimes months after their illness, which is particularly troubling given that there is no known cure.
