Lawrence, KS – According to the statement, companies and business groups are pressuring Governor Kelly to end the benefits.
The benefits include $300 weekly payments.
They believe the extra money is stopping people from seeking work.
And this is a time when many companies and business groups can’t find enough employees.
Gov. Kelly said that Kansas has focused on improving child care programs and other programs that would help people return to the workforce.
The federal program is scheduled to end Sept. 6.
