Love him or hate him, Donald Trump was never going to stay out of the political spotlight for long. Having been ousted from the White House by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the former POTUS kicked and screamed and sulked his way back to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, crying foul play in just about every way possible. He’s been quietly licking his wounds there since Biden’s inauguration in February, though his relative radio silence could also be put down to the fact that his social media channels were all taken away.
Nevertheless, this is Donald Trump we’re talking about, for whom support remains extremely high despite all the controversy surrounding his term in office and his antics after losing the election.
In fact, speculation goes so far as to insist that Trump will run again for the Republican party in 2024 – at the time of writing it certainly looks as though he will have enough backing to do so.
Yet waiting his turn like a good little former president isn’t exactly what Trump has in mind, at least if certain reports are to be believed. Instead, he’s been telling people in private that he expects to be reinstated to the White House by August.
Yes, you did read that right. No, we’re not entirely surprised either.
New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman dished the gossip via her Twitter account, claiming: “Trump has been telling a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects it will be reinstated by August (no that isn’t how it works but simply sharing the information).”
It will come as news to absolutely nobody that Trump is still maintaining that he was cheated out of an election victory. What’s more, the 74-year-old is expected to begin holding rallies again this month in Georgia, Florida, North Caroline, and Ohio.
Haberman added that Trump has kept laser-focus over recent months on election audits in those states he is still trying to overturn as regards the election. One of his former attorneys, Sidney Powell, went so far as to tell audience members at a Trump conference that “new inauguration day is set.”
Now, regardless of where you stand on the matter of Trump potentially becoming U.S. President again, I think we can all agree that it’s of vital importance that he goes through the appropriate channels and does things the right way. Chaos serves no one, and there are very few who would relish the return of scenes like those on show at the Capitol Building in January.
