68-year-old driver dead following vehicle, semi crash on K-9 Highway

Mitchell County, KANSAS – Kansas Highway Patrol officials said the fatal accident occurred on Thursday.

It happened on K-9 Highway.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash.

The responding troopers discovered that Ford Focus and Kenworth Tractor crashed at the location.

The 68-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was traveling westbound on K-9 Highway, went left of center and struck the semi-truck.

The 68-year-old driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead.

He was later identified as Larry Hicks.

The 33-year-old driver of the Kenworth Tractor was not injured.

He was later identified as Adam Badger.

This incident remains under investigation.
