6-year-old girl dead, two others seriously injured after SUV crashes into back of semi-truck on I-35

Sedgwick County, KANSAS – According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, this unfortunate accident occurred around 8:40 a.m. Friday.

It happened on I-35 near K-15.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash.

The responding troopers discovered that an SUV crashed into the back of a semi-truck that was reportedly stopped due to mechanical issues.

6-year-old female passenger was thrown from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

She was later identified as Reagan Sampson.

The driver of the SUV, Tori Hornecker, and an 8-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, troopers said.
