Ellis County, KANSAS – According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, this unfortunate accident occurred right after 10 a.m. Sunday.
It happened on U.S. 183 south of Hays.
Southbound GMC Sierra attempted to pass a vehicle and collided with a northbound Mercury sedan.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says that the driver of the Mercury sedan suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is James Kohl.
The driver of the GMC Sierra was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
This incident remains under investigation.
